Swatchfest! Stila Ultimate Color Palette

Does Stila have some sort of contract with Costco?  This is the 2nd Stila wonder-find Mr. P and I found at Costco for under $20.00 + tax.  Anyways, this is going to be a Swatchfest post on the Stila Ultimate Color Palette.

These colors don't look as warm in the pan as they do on my arm.  They all have a surprising amount of red hues in them.  I use the bottom right color as my eyebrow filler.  :-)

I'm a little worried that the blues will be too cool for my skintone and will end up making me look like I got punched in the eye.  *haha*  I really like the darker colors, especially the 3 shades in the top left hand side.  Other than the matte black, they have some nice shimmer/glitter in them to add a little oomphf to the eyes.

I have used a couple of these shades nearly every day.  I think these are the perfect mid-lid shades for work-appropriate makeup.  I particularly enjoy using the top 6 shades in any combo with a highlight and liner shade.

The top six shades are good for highlighting.  I like the shades hugging the right side because they have a bit of shimmer in them.  I don't think that matte highlight shades work well with my skin tone.  The white e/s at the very top is matte and a little powdery. My absolutely favorite highlight shades are the 2 under the white.

Sorry that I didn't have a good closeup picture of these before I started swatching them.  I just got excited and started using them in my daily makeup routines.  :-)  Anyways, these lip glosses (I think that's what they are) are super pigmented, as you can see.  I put them on par with the Tarte Lip Glosses from the Jewelry Box, except these Stila lip glosses sometimes don't feel as moisturizing.  HOWEVER, don't take my word on it right now, because I don't apply them the same way and that could have everything to do with it.

These blushes are so pigmented.  When I wear these, I feel like my cheeks just blossomed to life.  You have to be careful because you could easily overdo it.  I have been using the bottom left as a light highlight, even though it looks a shade darker than my skin.  I dunno... when I dust it on my upper cheek with my blush brush, it just imparts a nice glow and not a lot of color.  I have been trying to use the bottom right shade as a contour.  I think it comes out nice because I do use my blush brush and only lightly apply it under the cheek bones. 

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this Swatchfest post.  If any of you have found this at Costco and have not bought it, I would highly recommend that you do!  For $20-ish, you just can't go wrong.

Oh!  One more thing, the e/s and lippies sizes are maybe the sizes of pennies.  Bigger than dimes and smaller than nickles.

Swatch Fest 05: Stila Lip Glazes

Hi All!

So, I've had these Stila Lip Glazes since the beginning of 2011 and am finally getting around to opening, swatching, and using them.  The reason for the delay was that I wanted to go through the Tarte lip glosses first (however futile that endeavor may be). 

Maybe I should make it clear that I don't have a huge collection of skincare and makeup stuffs, nor do I want one!  It's pointless to me to have items just sitting around unused (especially in a recession!), you know?  However, I did just go on a spending spree last month and have managed to amass quite a bit of this-and-thats.

Digression aside, the swatches I did of the Stila Lip Glazes are about as true to life as I can get them.  I tried taking pictures in artificial and natural light.  Let me just preface that I cherish everything that Mr. P gives me; however, the Stila Lip Glazes are not my most favorite lip products to date.  I enjoy the shine, the sheer color, the scents, the variety, and am okay with the stickiness of the glosses.  However, I do not enjoy the tube/brush twist-and-click form because it makes me feel like I really need a mirror for precise application.

Anyways, please be prepared to be bombarded by up-close pics of my Stila-fied lips.  :-P

Mr. P bought this at Costco back in Jan/Feb 2011.  Cost: $30-ish USD.

Colors: Apricot, Grapefruit, Kitten, Merry merry, Guava, Seashell, Majesty

It's okay.  I like Apricot more than Grapefruit.

I like Kitten's golden glow.  For me, I think Kitten will be more appropriate for summer and autumn.

In romance novels, the heroine achieves a beautiful flush just as she's about to be seduced by the hero.  Beware, ladies!  I think Merry Merry mimics said flush quite well!

This is like Kitten but with more peachy/pink hues to it.  Looks totally natural and beautiful!

Majesty and Merry Merry are quite similar with the heroine's flush look.  But I think I like the way Majesty wears a little more.  Looks luscious!

Seashell is like Apricot and Guava.  Not that bad!

I think you can't go wrong with any of Stila's Lip Glazes.  They are versatile enough to be worn alone or over lipstick.  They're a bit on the sticky side for me, which I'm not really crazy about, but the upside is that they last a long time!  These aren't super moisturizing, but they'll do in a flash.

Stila Contouring Trio / Visiting Mr. P in November

I won this palette from a contest hosted by the wonderful Sue Lynn (get to know more about her on her blog and youtube channel) back in March/April this year.  This is post is long overdue and I am determined to get this done before next year!

Stila advertises that this Contouring Trio has multiple uses, which there are.  This palette and trio of colors can be used to contour and highlight your face in day and night settings.  These shadows can also be used as eyeshadow.  May I also suggest a brow shader?
