I Need Enlightenment: What does "Warm" and "Cool" mean???

Hi All,

So, I've been beauty blogging for a little over 2 years now and been watching YT videos on beauty and skincare for more than 3 years now and I still don't get it.

What does "Warm" and "Cool" mean in terms of beauty, makeup and skincare?

I was just watching a new video from FashionIsMyCrush and she said something about cool skin-toned people being NW### and warm skin-toned people being NC###.  I thought the "W" and "C" in the MAC foundation numbers meant "Warm" and "Cool".

How can you tell if you're "Warm" or "Cool"?

Bubzbeauty explained in one of her videos that you can find out if you're warm or cool toned if you look at the veins on your wrist.  Green means one thing, and blue means another.  I don't remember which and to me, green and blue are very subjective.  I can't tell what I am.

I'm confused.  Can someone please enlighten me?

I would really appreciate it!  Thanks for stopping by and thanks in advance for your help!

UPDATE:
Thank you everyone who stopped by and posted an answer to these couple of questions.  I feel so much better knowing that there are people who do have the answers to these questions and are so willing to share their/your knowledge.  So thank you again for enlightening me on this subject!  I hope the answers here were also able to help out those who had these same questions.  Thank you, Beauty Community!  :-)

Product Review: Lioele Aqua Makeup Water Drop BB

Hello my lovelies!  I have here another product review for you, like I promised and also specifically requested by Linh.

I got this from the lovely Ms. Sue Lynn several years ago.  She, by the way, is recovering nicely from her surgery, but we always wish her a speedier and quicker recovery!

Anyways, I've been using this product for a few months now and have only good things to say about it.  But first, the product description.

This picture links to Pretty&Cute, an exclusive supplier of Lioele products in the USA.

Increased hydration:  Yes!  This product is my daytime moisturizer.  It feels so light on my skin but it keeps my skin soft and hydrated at the same time.  It also evens out my skin tone a little bit.

Feel of soft moisturizing cream when applied:  Yes!

Light and doesn't feel sticky:  Light, yes.  Sticky depends on the climate for me.  On cool days it absorbs wonderfully.  On warm days it can feel sticky if I'm already hot and a little sweaty.

Natural color:  Yes!  For me, though.  I think it will depend on the person applying it.

Provides natural glow:  Yes!

Relives reddened skin:  Yes!  It evens out the redness around my nose.  This product, however, is not meant to conceal anything.  Coverage is so sheer that it will mute and tone down any hyperpigmentation, but it won't conceal them.

Blocks UVA and UVB:  I don't leave it to chance.  I still back it up with additional SPF.

Would I repurchase?  Of course!  But, I think its best use will be when my skin isn't behaving like an adolescent.

I'm including here the link to A Little Bit of Eki's review of this product.  I think it's a great demonstration of this product's hydration, natural color and glow power.

Thanks for reading!

Swap with Linh (Blushology)

Hi Everyone!

I hope everyone is coming to the middle of the year just as motivated as you were at the beginning of this year.  I have to admit that my weight loss journey is going backwards, not forwards!  While I'm completely upset at my continuing weight gain, I really have no one to blame but myself.  Laziness, procrastination, and making excuses for the smallest of things, i.e., my toenail hurts.  <--  Yes, things of that nature.  >_<

So, Mr. P and I had a serious, short, and firm discussion this morning about being strict with ourselves to hit the gym every day and eat right.  That means, I need to find a way to give myself that boost of energy in the mornings, to find time in the evenings to cook, and to cook healthy and fit meals for us.

Anyways, that's the goal.  This should have gone on my Fitness Journal page, but I figure I'll be more accountable if I put this on the main page.  I have all of you to keep me in line!  ^_^

Sorry for the ramble.

Without further ado, here are the products I got from my swap with Linh last month.

Mr. P and I have already eaten the Hello Kitty marshmallows.  Actually, he had one, and I the rest!

I can't wait to try the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream.  From what I can gather, it is a rather fancy hand/body cream for extremely dry skin.  This will be perfect in my office!!!

The Sephora + Pantone Universe lipstick and eyeliner are kind of intimidating to me because of the bright orange color, but hot damn!  They do look very very nice, don't they?  I've already swatched the eyeliner.  It's goes on like butter and stays put like a stain!  If I can pull off this color, I will definitely upload it on a FOTD!

I've never had a Make Up For Ever product before, so I can't wait until I get to open up the Smoky Lash mascara.  Maybe I'll do a Battle Mascara on it.  :-)

The NARS cream stick blush looks so gorgeous!  I have to wait until the summer months pass.  My skin is getting very oily these days.  It already sucks that my makeup slips around when I wear my sunglasses (they rest on my cheek, not my nose!), so I don't want that happening when I try this product!

I think the MAC Cremesheen Glass is what Linh calls "my lips but better."  I will definitely open this up in September before I go on my Taiwan trip.  The reason?  I want something secure to take with me on the plane and to Taiwan.  The glosses I have right now are all in pans, which I'm trying so hard to use up!

Oh, my God!  Where do I even start with these Stila palettes?!?!  Inside, I'm just a quivering mass of excitement!

Thank you again, Linh!

I hope everyone is having a great week!

Finished! May 2012

Hi All!

Another month another Finished! post.  After last month's dismal Finished! report, I bounced back this month with more than twice as many Finished! products.  Enjoy!

L'Oreal Go 360 Clean was a cleanser that I liked for its smell and exfoliation.

Another Stila Lip Glaze finished!  I don't remember which one it was though.

Lancome Genifique Youth Activating Concentrate.  I got this from Linh of Blushology in a swap.  It's a sample sized so I can't do a product review on it based off the number of uses I got out of it.  It didn't break me out and I thought I saw some small improvements in the fine lines under my eyes.

Sisley Paris Celluli-Pro.  Another sample sized product for the improvement of the appearance of cellulite.  It smells herbal and medicinal, something that I've developed a liking for!  I know I'm weird.  ^_^  I don't know if this really works on a long-term basis, but for the few uses I got out of it I thought I saw some improvement in my cottage cheese thighs and butt.  :P

Mandarin Shower Gel.  A citrusy shower routine and cheered up my spirits after a long day at work.  This was a gift from my Kindred Spirit up in San Francisco.

Finished Mizuno Tenshi Flower Moisture Gel.  Nothing too special about it.  It's a decent gel moisturizer that is good for hot weather.

Finished a Dior Addict High Shine lipstick!  It was so smooth and buttery and moisturizing!

Finished my Mentholatum Acnes White cleanser.  A little goes a long long way.  I've been working at this tube since January!  I'm going to restock on this when I next go to Taiwan.

SK-II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion.  This does a lot of good things for my skin as it picks up makeup residue.  I do feel luxurious using it!

So, there it is!  I'm so happy that I was able to finish so many products this month!  It gives me a huge sense of accomplishment.

Do you feel the same way when you finish something, too?

Dior Addict High Shine in #154 Designer Coral

Hi Everyone!

I got this Dior Addict High Shine lippy from Sue Lynn back in 2010.  I bought it from her in a blog sale as a reward for running 100 miles.  I really ought to get back into that habit!  *weight loss!*

Anyways, this isn't necessarily a product review because I won't be able to give a general opinion that stays true across the board for all the Dior Addict High Shine lippies.

Cons about this particular lippy
I don't think the color of this lippy works for me.  I'm not well versed in "cool" or "warm" and I don't yet understand those concepts, so when I say "cool", I'm actually describing a frosty looking effect on my lips.  I tried to capture the lavenderish glimmer in the pink lipstick in the picture.  I personally don't think frosty effects look natural on me.  See the swatch here.

Pros about this particular lippy
This goes on so smoothly, like butter.  In fact, it feels exactly like butter.  It's incredibly hydrating and moisturizing, and applies like a dream.  I would actually buy more of the High Shine lipsticks but in darker pinky-brown colors.

I'm almost done with this lippy too!  I took me two years, but I think I might be able to include this lippy in my May's finished products post!  Whoo-hoo!

Have a great one, y'all!

PS - my friend Sue Lynn is going into surgery soon.  I think she would really feel much better and recover faster with your good wishes.  If you don't leave her a message on her blog post or twitter please keep my friend in your thoughts and prayers.  Thank you so much in advance!
