Makeup at the Gym

After working out!

Hi Everyone!  It makes me feel weird at the gym to be wearing a full face a makeup.  But it's not that I deliberately go to the gym with makeup on, it's just that it happens to be on my face when I go at the end of the day!  I don't bother with makeup or anything when I go in the mornings.

I'm not the only one who does this, right???

I know that wearing makeup on your face while you're working out can't be the best for your pores and stuff, but at the end of the day when you just want to get everything done so you can go home and eat and spend time with the hubby (or fiance or significant other), sometimes you just have to sacrifice something.  For me, that sacrifice is the time I spend to get the makeup off and remoisturize my skin.

Seriously, I'm not the only one who does this, right?  Let me know I'm not alone!  :-)

Thanks for reading!

PS - I'm not mad in my picture.  I'm just concentrating really hard on taking the picture.  :-P

PSA: Protect Your Pets!

My dear Readers,

This post isn't related to beauty.

This post isn't a happy post, either.

That's all the warning I'm going to give.

I was driving on my way home from work when I noticed a couple of red blotches on the road a couple feet ahead of me.  Looking to the left, I saw the source of the red blotches.  A chihuahua-sized dog (I'm not sure of the breed) with a red collar around its neck.  The dog was on its side, clearly not flattened and a few feet away from the red stains, which I now assume to be blood.

It looked, to me, like the dog was hit, fatally injured and bleeding, and managed to crawl a few feet before giving up.

I can't help but think that this dog belonged to someone, some family.  I can't help but think that this dog must have been loved and gave back a lot of love to its owners.  But now this dog is gone from this world and someone or some family must be missing it.  I can't help but wonder how much pain this dog was in before giving up and wonder if this dog wanted his owners to rescue it.

Please, everyone, PROTECT YOUR PETS!  Remind other pet owners to protect their pets.

Make sure your pet can't get out, get lost, and wander the streets where a number of bad things could happen to it.  I know that accidents happen, someone unknowingly leaves a door or window open, the pet runs out before the owner can catch it, etc.  But if we all take an extra moment to make sure to the best of our ability that the pet's living area is secured, maybe we'll have prevented another pet getting out and lost on the street.

It just breaks my heart every time I see something like this.  I hope that we can save more pets from this type of tragedy.

Thanks for reading this far and I'm really sorry if I've depressed you.

Lesson Learned

Assume the defeated position.

I am having a really bad hair day.  Normally, I'm the wash-and-go type of girl.  I don't have a lot of time in the mornings to get ready.  But today, I thought that I'd at least put some of those velcro curlers in my hair at the crown to get some volume going.  As you can see, that was a failed idea since any volume attained deflated before lunch.

Then, the part of my hair that was dyed honey blond, insisted on creating their own waves while the roots flattened out.  In effect, I have curls and waves in all the wrong places.

Third, any part of my hair that is not my natural color (roots), gets tangled each and every day, each and every night, and each and every hour.  My stylist cut off 1.5 inches about 2 weeks ago.  With how my hair is getting so tangled, I am tempted to go with a short bob.  "Tempted," I said.

Lesson learned from this?

Natural is better!!!

I will let this mess grow out and then chop off all that honey blond hair!

Making mascaras work for me!

Hi Everyone!  Since posting up Battle Mascara 7: Fairydrops vs Majolica Majorca, I've decided that I've got to find a way to use Fairydrops, even if its repetitious and I don't like it.  It did cost me $24.00 +/- and I will feel really bad if I don't put in some good faith effort to make the most of the purchase.

I'm not a fan of using multiple brands of mascara at once because I like to keep things simple.  To me, and this is only my opinion, a good mascara should be able to do everything you need it to do.  But for the sake of Fairydrops, I will go the extra mile.

I have layered my lashes with one coat of CoverGirl Exact Eyelights waterproof mascara for the sole purpose of keeping the curl in my lashes.  I layered one coat of Fairydrops over that for the smudge-proof-ability.

Curl
Fairydrops still manages to pull down some of the curl but it's not as drastic as before.  I can be okay with this.

Volume
Layering both mascaras has increased the power of the volume!

Length
CoverGirl's lengthening ability is, on a scale of meh-to-great, okay and decent.  When combined with Fairydrops, I'd have to say that the length is comparable to the length I was able to achieve with the fibers in Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Frame Plus.

Smudge
Nah.  Both of these mascaras never smudged that much so I'm not even going to worry about it.

Clump
A little clumping goes on.  CoverGirl does a great job at lifting and separating each lash.  But when you layer Fairydrops over it, I think the weight of the formula and the different wand shapes work together to clump up some of the lashes.

I like to keep it simple, so having to work with mascara like this isn't the best way for me to start my day.  I'm curious....

What are some things you do to go the extra mile for beauty?

I really really want....

I think I'm strong-willed enough to hold out on making more skincare and beauty-related purchases.  Mr. P and I had a long chat about saving money for real-estate, which, in the grand scheme of things, is just the right thing to do for our future.

But it doesn't stop me from really really really wanting this!

This line of skincare I found on Sasa's website (under their clearance section).

Maybe it's their calm pink color?

                                     Maybe it's their packaging?

              Maybe because it's Japanese?

Maybe because it seems organic and natural?

Maybe............

                                          Maybe.................

                                                                                        Maybe.........  ???

I don't know why but I really really want to try this line out!!!!

I'm venting right now because I know that I am not going to make this purchase until I cut down on my current skincare stash.  At least not until I'm on the last of my moisturizers, UV SPFers, toners, cleansers, base makeups.  And with how much I've got, it's going to take a loooooooong time.

Question:  Have any of you ever been in this dilemma, where you want to buy something you know you shouldn't?

Battle Mascara 7: Fairydrops Tokyo Scandal Queen Mascara

I've been wanting to try a high-end mascara for a while, just to see what all the excitement is about.  So I went to Sephora and picked this up:  Fairydrops Scandal Queen Mascara.

It comes in a very eye-catching package and it certainly looks very promising!

I only just figured out how to make my lashes stand out, and I think that the Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Frame Plus did just that.  So I have high expectations for this Fairydrops Scandal Queen Mascara.  I think I paid $24 at Sephora.

The box says that this wand is unique.  But the 3-balls shaped (don't get thoughts, now), isn't that unique.  The NYX Doll Eye mascara (Battle Mascara 1 and 2) I had before also had a similarly shaped wand.  I think the uniqueness comes from the curve of the wand itself.  It's supposed to catch your lashes and coat and curl at the same time.

Battle Mascara 7: Fairydrops Scandal Queen vs Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Frame Plus.

Keeping in mind that mascaras probably work differently for different peoples, I have to conclude that I am personally not impressed with the Fairydrops Scandal Queen mascara, other than for it's smudge-proof-ness.

Here are some pictures of my lashes with Fairydrops.

 Not impressed.

Not as much volume or length as the MM mascara.

Lashes straightened out and most of the curl got lost.

Just a reminder, here's a picture of my lashes with Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Frame Plus.

You can see how curled my lashes remained!

Final thoughts:  I am really disappointed.  I don't think that paying $24.00 for the Fairydrops mascara was worth it in my book.  I think I'm just going to stock up on Majolica Majorca's Lash Expander Frame Plus the next time I go to Taiwan.  For the price of one Fairydrops, I could have gotten 3 or 4 MMs.  For my purposes, I'm sure I don't need to look any further.

Have you tried Fairydrops Scandal Queen and did you have a different experience?
