DIY Moisturizing Antioxidant Smoothie Mask

Hi Everyone!

Summer is here along with some really hot weather.  I've found that Fage Greek Yogurt has really helped me stay cool.  In order to make this yogurt taste even better, I've been making smoothies at home for Mr. P and myself.

Ingredients: frozen berries, Fage Greek yogurt, water, honey.

I usually make this smoothie after working out.  Lately, I've been making this after work as I wait for Mr. P to come home.  This is also the time I get to use the smoothie as a mask.

Yogurt
Good for your digestive track.
Natural moisturizer.

Berries
High in vitamins and antioxidants.
Seeds provide natural and healthy oils.
Seeds can also be used as an exfoliant.

Honey
Nature's sweet treat.
Antibacterial properties.

Some benefits I've seen are that my skin look brighter and the pores look a little tighter.  My skin has a refreshed, supple feel to it after I rinse off.

What do I do with the rest of the smoothie?

Salma Hayek Nuance Meadowfoam Seed Leave-in Treatment

*I really like this picture collage maker!!*

Okay, back to the topic at hand, I purchased this Salma Hayek Nuance Meadowfoam Seed Leave-in Treatment for my hair some time in June.  As I've mentioned before, my hair became like straw after I had it dyed a lighter blond color.  In the shower, my hair literally transformed into helmet hair and was impossible to comb even with a handful of regular rinse out conditioner and the Garnier Fructis 3-in-1 Nutrient Spray.

Mr. P and I had stopped by Walgreens to pick up some DIY hair dye.  I was about the get a Neutrogena leave-in conditioner but changed my mind.  I had never used this brand or this product before and decided to take a leap of faith.  Salma Hayek is a beautiful woman with amazing hair (needless to say I think she also has a gorgeous figure), so this leave-in treatment has got to be good.  I hoped.

And what's the verdict?

It's GREAT!  This cut through all that straw and damaged hair like Dawn dish detergent through grease!  It fixed my helmet hair on the spot!  In fact when I went to Chicago on my business trip I used only the hotel shampoo and Salma Hayek's Nuance Leave-in Treatment.  I was able to finger comb my hair and style it without using any heat products at all!

This product is definitely going to be a staple in my hair care regimen.  In fact, I don't think I'll need to buy another rinse-out conditioner as long as I have Salma Hayek Nuance Meadowfoam Seed Leave-in Treatment.

Cheers!

Product Review: TonyMoly Eggpore Blackhead Out Gel

the product!

June 21, 2012

I've started using this TonyMoly Eggpore Blackhead Out Gel in the last 2 weeks.  I figure I should use it to keep my blackheads from forming so quickly and having to go through my pore strips equally as quickly.

It smells like an orange to me.  :)

So far, I don't notice any improvements or reductions in blackheads.  I've been using this every other day or every 2 days, but never in consecutive days, and never going longer than 3 days without using it.

Product review forthcoming!

UPDATE & PRODUCT REVIEW

Here is my review on the TonyMoly Eggpore Blackhead Out Gel.

Product claims to clear out blackheads by dissolving them.

There are many reviews out there that claim this product works as it should, more reviews that claim this product works half as well as it should, and a few more reviews that claim the product doesn't work at all.  This might depend on how deeply your blackheads are rooted in your pores.

My personal opinion:

I don't think this product works at all if you follow the instructions to massage it with your fingers.  First of all, the claim that this product will turn milky white as a result of dissolving the sebum in your pores is bogus.  The product turns milky white because it comes in contact with water.  I keep this in the shower with me and have to dip my fingers into the product.  My little stash of Blackhead Out Gel has developed this milky whiteness wherever excess water has dripped off my finger tips.  This is exactly the same concept with the Shu Uemura cleansing oils.

Results after using my fingers to massage the gel into my skin are less than impressive.  Yes, when you're massaging the oily gel into your skin, your skin feels soft and smooth because there's no friction!  But when you rinse and get out of the shower and look at what's left, 99.9999999% of the blackheads are still there.  And, no, I don't see that the blackhead size has changed.

I expected this product to work like the Biore pore strips and really clean out my pores.  ~Disappointed~

However!

I have found a way to yield better results.  I use the Blackhead Out Gel in conjunction with the silicone face scrubber.

Using both together, you will see some reduction in blackheads.  The reduction in blackheads is maybe about 25-35% less than what you started with.  Of course, we could always attribute the reduction to the silicone face scrubber instead of the gel, right?

Final Verdict:

I wouldn't get this again.  Don't get too caught up in the packaging even though it's as cute as a button.  If you really wanted effective removal of nearly 100% of your blackheads, stick with any of the pore strips that are out there.  They are much more effective than the TonyMoly Eggpore Blackhead Out Gel.  I hate to give a bad review of any cute product, but there it is.

I hope this product review was helpful!  Thanks for stopping by!

Finished! June and Product Review: Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Nutrient Spray

Hi All!  Sorry that I'm late with my Finished! post for June.  Honestly, I've had a slow month.  This bottle of Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition Nutrient Spray was all that I managed to finish in June.  That said, it will be easy for me to do a product review on it.

In a nutshell, the product claims to nourish and shine dry, damaged hair.  And all of you ladies know I've had my bout with dry, damaged and unmanageable hair (proof is here and here) after I had it dyed a lighter ash blond shade.

Nourish
I don't think this did anything at all to nourish or feed my hair any needed nutrients.  My hair always still felt brittle, tangled, dry, damaged, and very unhealthy.  Let me put it this way.  Has anyone ever tried to comb their hair immediately after getting out of a swimming pool?  The impossibility of it was exactly how my hair was wet or dry.  No matter how much or how little I sprayed on my hair, it just always felt crummy.

Shine
Maybe my hair got some shine.  It looked like it made individual strands shinier from the light coating of fruit oils, but other than that, my hair still felt and managed like it was straw or hay.

Other
It smelled nice, like all Garnier Fructis hair products.

Would I repurchase?
No.  I don't think it did anything for my dry and damaged hair.  If we're talking about medicines and cures, this product was like a cough drop - it masked the symptoms of unhealthy hair, it did not cure unhealthy hair nor did it make unhealthy hair healthy again.  In all honestly, I think this product was mislabeled and should be used by people who already have normal and healthy hair for that added boost of nutrients and shine.

As always, my reviews are 100% based on my experiences.

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!

Fourth of July Outing

 Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a great Independence Day holiday, for those of you in the USA.

Mr. P and I celebrated the day by going up to the Mount Wilson Observatory and taking a view of Los Angeles and surrounding areas.  I finally was able to get a collage maker on my phone, so yay!  More interesting ways to post pictures!!

Anyways, these pictures were taken at the peak of Mount Wilson.  The Observatory was closed, but that's okay.  We did something that is inspiring us to either take up mountain biking, or join the Sierra Club.

Mr. P is a tall fellow.  In my daily life, I don't come across a lot of people or things taller than him.  So it was really nice to see him have to tilt his head up to look at something (mountains and boulders) taller than him.  It really puts into perspective how small we are to the world and how precious our existence on this planet really is.

I thought this collage was rather artistic.  Mr. P looking over the views.  What was amazing about being at the peak of Mount Wilson was seeing the marine layer over Los Angeles and actually seeing the curvature of our planet!  I have a renewed appreciation for our life here on Earth.  We really are one in a million (or maybe more!) to be on this planet, in this solar system, in this galaxy, in this universe.

I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday and are looking forward to another great month!

Jya!
