Making mascaras work for me!

Hi Everyone!  Since posting up Battle Mascara 7: Fairydrops vs Majolica Majorca, I've decided that I've got to find a way to use Fairydrops, even if its repetitious and I don't like it.  It did cost me $24.00 +/- and I will feel really bad if I don't put in some good faith effort to make the most of the purchase.

I'm not a fan of using multiple brands of mascara at once because I like to keep things simple.  To me, and this is only my opinion, a good mascara should be able to do everything you need it to do.  But for the sake of Fairydrops, I will go the extra mile.

I have layered my lashes with one coat of CoverGirl Exact Eyelights waterproof mascara for the sole purpose of keeping the curl in my lashes.  I layered one coat of Fairydrops over that for the smudge-proof-ability.

Curl
Fairydrops still manages to pull down some of the curl but it's not as drastic as before.  I can be okay with this.

Volume
Layering both mascaras has increased the power of the volume!

Length
CoverGirl's lengthening ability is, on a scale of meh-to-great, okay and decent.  When combined with Fairydrops, I'd have to say that the length is comparable to the length I was able to achieve with the fibers in Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Frame Plus.

Smudge
Nah.  Both of these mascaras never smudged that much so I'm not even going to worry about it.

Clump
A little clumping goes on.  CoverGirl does a great job at lifting and separating each lash.  But when you layer Fairydrops over it, I think the weight of the formula and the different wand shapes work together to clump up some of the lashes.

I like to keep it simple, so having to work with mascara like this isn't the best way for me to start my day.  I'm curious....

What are some things you do to go the extra mile for beauty?

you absolutely must try the lash primer from MM. It will make any mascara work for you!

@Ari

I think I'm going to take your advice and try out a couple more MM lash products. Only 4.5 more months to go before I get to Taiwan and can get more!! Thanks!! ^_^

I'm glad you found a way to work with the mascara! I don't like to layer my mascaras because they always end up looking spidery and clumpy... I don't understand why! -_-

Some things I do to go the extra mile for beauty:
- putting on a cream bronzer, liquid highlighter, and cream blush before layering powder bronzer, highlighter and blush... It lasts so much longer!

Hm... that's all I can think of at the moment! =)

Yes! This doubling up on mascara makes for clumpy lashes. I don't have a lot of lashes to begin with but now it looks like I only have 5 or 6!!! LOL!

I think I'm going to have to do the same with my highlighter. I need to find a way to make highlights last. They're always the first to fade on my face. ^_^ Thanks for sharing and for tipping me off to this great idea!
